72-Hours of Prayer
The 72-hour prayer vigil is a visible demonstration of our entire community's sacrificial love and unity. Every single hour is a faithful service, a specific person or group in our larger community dedicating time to lift up those on the walk, creating a physical manifestation of intercessory ministry. This continuous prayer shows the pilgrims and team that they are not alone and are deeply valued and loved by a community far larger than what they see on the weekend. It powerfully illustrates how, in Christ, we are all connected and responsible for one another, actively participating in their journey of faith even from a distance, standing with them in spirit every hour of every day.
Each prayer slot is 30 minutes. In addition to the named Pilgrims and Conference Room Team, we also pray for the anonymous servanthood of the Agape Team.

Minnesota Walk to Emmaus - Holding the Weekend in Prayer
Welcome, friend. Thank you for saying yes to prayer.
Begin with a moment of stillness. Release distractions. Take a breath and become aware of God’s presence with you. Offer thanks and praise, and ask for focus and strength during this time. Pray as you would speak with a trusted friend.
Trust that the Spirit is already praying within you (Romans 8:26-27). There is no perfect way. Just begin.
Pray for the Pilgrims:
-
For each Pilgrim by name.
-
For presence, openness, and freedom from daily distractions.
-
For those who feel hesitant, tired, uncertain, or resistant.
-
For safety, belonging, and deep love.
-
For open hearts during talks, worship, and table discussions.
-
For courage to share and willingness to listen.
-
That burdens may be laid at the foot of the cross and replaced with grace, healing and hope.
-
For those unsure in faith.
-
For a real and personal encounter with Christ’s love.
-
That agape letters and gifts remind them they are known, supported, and never alone.
-
For awareness of people God places in their path after the weekend.
-
For a gentle transition into their Fourth Day journey.
-
Pray for the Team and Those Serving:
-
For Lay Directors, Assistant Lay Directors, Spiritual Directors, the Board Representative, leadership and musicians.
-
For wisdom, humility, courage, and trust in the Spirit.
-
For speakers and talks: that self is set aside and God’s love is clearly revealed.
-
For table leaders and assistants: listening hearts and servant leadership.
-
For cooks, agape team, and all who serve quietly behind the scenes: renewed strength and joy.
-
For unity among the team and loving support between team and pilgrims.
Pray for the Weekend Itself:
-
For buildings, grounds, and all spaces: may they be places of welcome, safety, and transformation.
-
For spiritual protection and that anything distracting from God’s work be gently removed.
-
For special moments of the weekend and opportunities for the Spirit to move deeply.
-
For sponsors, families at home, prayer partners, and the wider Emmaus community.
-
For good health, restful sleep, and safe travel for everyone involved.
-
That all may “let go and let God,” trusting the Spirit’s work.
Closing
Give everything back to God — who sees, knows, and loves beyond what we can imagine.
Offer thanks:
-
for those who prayed before you,
-
for the one who will pray after you,
-
and for the opportunity to hold this weekend in prayer.
“Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances…” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)
