Welcome to the Journey
The Minnesota Walk to Emmaus is more than a weekend retreat; it is a movement of the Holy Spirit designed to strengthen the local church. Whether you are seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, a stronger foundation for your faith, or a community of believers to walk alongside, you are welcome here.
Inspired by the Gospel of Luke, our 72-hour "short course in Christianity" provides a sacred space to experience God’s grace through prayer, study, and fellowship. We invite you to step away from the noise of the world and rediscover the joy of being a disciple in your home, your workplace, and your congregation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the typical cost of a Walk in Minnesota?
While costs can vary slightly by location and year, the fee for a three-day Walk in our community is typically around $???. This fee covers all your lodging and meals for the entire 72-hour experience.
A Note on Financial Hardship: We believe that no one should ever be prevented from attending due to money. If the cost is a barrier, scholarships are often available through your Sponsor or the Board.
What should I pack for the weekend?
The weekend is casual and relaxed; there is no need for "church" or formal attire.
-
Clothing: Pack comfortable clothes you can layer (indoor spaces can vary in temperature) and comfortable shoes.
-
Bedding: All bedding is provided. If you have specific bedding you would like to bring, please feel fre.
-
Personal Items: Bring a towel, washcloth, and your standard toiletries.
-
Medications: Bring whatever medications you need for the weekend.
-
Spiritual Tools: You are welcome to bring your favorite Bible, though all other materials are provided.
Will I be "unplugged" from the world?
Yes. To help you fully focus on God’s grace without distraction, we ask that you leave your phone, watch, and other electronic devices at home or with your Sponsor.
-
In case of emergency: Your Sponsor will have an emergency contact number where you can be reached at the retreat center if a true need arises.
Is there a lot of physical walking involved?
Despite the name "Walk to Emmaus," there is very little physical walking. The name refers to the spiritual journey described in the Gospel of Luke. Most of the weekend takes place in a conference room and chapel. If you have mobility concerns, we have volunteers and assistance (including golf carts at some locations) to ensure you can participate fully.
Can my spouse and I attend together?
Emmaus weekends are gender-specific, meaning men and women attend on separate weekend. We strongly encourage couples to attend during the same season so you can share the experience and support one another in your "Fourth Day" journey together.
Is the Walk to Emmaus only for Methodists?
Not at all. While the program is administered by The Upper Room (part of United Methodist Discipleship Resources), it is a deeply ecumenical movement. We welcome Christians from all denominations and focus on the core truths of grace and discipleship that unite us all.
